CASO conducted, arms & ammunition recovered in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 19. Arms and ammunition, including a pistol and a grenade, were on Wednesday recovered
during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in uptown Srinagar. Official sources said that following specific
information about presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by police and CRPF at Bismillah colony and adjoining areas in Azad Basti Natipora in uptown Srinagar at around 0200 hrs on Wednesday. They said after sealing all exit points, security forces occupied high rise houses to keep a close watch from top floors on the entire area.
In some cases, occupants were asked to sit in one room while security forces were conducting searches of houses.
Later, the CASO was further extended to further areas after it was reported that militants had managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The house-to-house searches were launched, which continued till late in the morning. “During the search operation, one pistol and one grenade was recovered from a residence,” they said. They said the owner of the residence in which arms were recovered, identified as Hilal Ahmad Parray, was taken into custody
