Warangal, April 12: Stating that the people of Warangal have stood by the TRS in each of the elections for the last six years, Minister for IT and MA & UD KT Rama Rao urged the people of Warangal to support the ruling TRS party in the forthcoming elections of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC). He said that the TRS government was striving for the uplift of every section of society. “The government-led by KCR would soon issue new ration cards and Aasara pensions to all the eligible,” he said while addressing a public meeting held at the Fort Warangal here on Monday. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has a special interest in the development of Warangal city. Rs 300 crore are being allocated to Warangal city in the State budget. TRS government would make Warangal a ‘Future City’ and also the best Tier-II city in the State. “The Metro Neo rail project will be taken up in the city soon,” Rama Rao said. Stating the development works worth Rs 2,500 crore inaugurated or foundation laid on Monday alone, he added that the government had spent Rs 1,580 crore to provide drinking water supply every day to each house under the GWMC limits. Listing out the measures being taken for the strengthening of the government hospitals besides protecting the health of the pregnant women, he said that the mother mortality rate (MMR) and Child Mortality Rate (CMR) had come down drastically in the State. “The deliveries at the government hospitals have increased from 30 to 50 percent because of KCR kits and financial assistance to the mothers,” he added. Alleging that the Modi government did nothing for the development of Telangana State as well as the nation, Rao has come down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The Telangana was promised to get the coach factory at Kazipet, but the Modi government has not set up it. It has sanctioned only a wagon overhauling unit,” he said. The IT and MAUD Minister has blamed the Modi government for a steep hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinder. Rama Rao also promised that the GWMC would purchase 30 acres of the land by offering Rs.7 crore compensation to the landowners at Fort Warangal to make it a beautiful ground for the benefit of the morning walkers and locals. Earlier in the day, the KTR formally launched the daily water supply by opening a plaque at Rampur village under the GWMC limits. After inaugurating the water supply scheme, KTR has left for Deshaipet in a special bus to lay a foundation for the construction of the 2BHK houses. As a part of the State government’s endeavor to see that there would be no homeless people, IT and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao here on Monday laid the foundation for the construction of a total of 800 2BHK houses under the GWMC limits. While 600 double bedroom houses will be constructed for the benefit of families of the below poverty line (BPL) at Dupakunta with Rs 31.80 crore, 200 2BHK houses are meant for the ‘journalists’ of the Warangal East constituency. The cost of the 200 houses is estimated at Rs 10.60 crore. Meanwhile, Rama Rao has also laid the foundation for the construction of the Haj House with an estimated cost of Rs 2.35 crore for the use of the Muslim community people at Mandi Bazar here besides laying the foundation for Shaadhi Khana at LB Nagar in Warangal. Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, Govt Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, local MLA N Narender, and others attended the meeting.
