Raids over bogus political funding

The Income Tax department carried out searches across the country on Wednesday over bogus donations to registered unrecognized political parties and also people associated with a midday meal scam, a senior official said on Wednesday. The officer said raids took place in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. “It is part of a coordinated action by the department,” an official told UNI. After credible information about tax evasion, the department worked out a coordinated crackdown on people and entities.
