What are the major takeaways of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are few hour whirlwind visits to the state of Telangana where the assembly polls are due next year?
One, nailing the lies being spread by the ruling clique over the privatization of the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) of Ramagundam, and the second is a clear and loud warning to those who looted the state exchequer. He made these two statements without mincing words while addressing a gathering at the Begumpet airport as well as later at Ramagundam, where the gathering was mammoth and unprecedented despite the efforts of some left parties as well TRS or BRS activists putting out ‘Modi go back’ posters.
Has the public meeting been well planned as the area covers around 12 assembly seats and as if Modi blew the bigul of the party ahead of the elections scheduled next year? The TRS now in its new avatar as Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), might have won the Munugode by-poll with great difficulty, that too with just 10,000 votes, yet for all practical purposes, the BJP, could further consolidate its vote share from a mere single digit to a significant 34 percent narrowing the gap with the ruling party to within less than 5-7 percent. And the Prime Minister, who happens to be an icon of BJP campaigning in any election, looks more than confident of snatching another southern state this time around. Modi’s confidence is borne out of massive rallies being organized by the state unit under Bandi Sanjay and the former himself has acknowledged this earlier at the Parade Grounds meet not so long ago and now at Ramagundam.
