Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is going through a deeply painful phase after the passing of his father, Khachandra Singh, who succumbed to a prolonged illness. The loss has left the family devastated, coming at a time when Rinku was engaged in international duties.

Khachandra Singh breathed his last at a private hospital in Greater Noida, where he had been undergoing treatment for fourth stage liver cancer. Despite medical efforts, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away on Friday, leaving behind grieving family members.

A day after India’s match against Zimbabwe in the ongoing T20 World Cup, the final rites were performed. A video from the funeral has since circulated widely, showing Rinku carrying his father’s bier with visible emotion. Surrounded by relatives, police personnel, and hundreds of supporters who gathered to pay their respects, the cricketer struggled to hold back tears while bidding his final goodbye.

Earlier, Rinku had briefly traveled to Noida after learning that his father’s health had turned critical ahead of the Zimbabwe game. Though he returned to rejoin the squad, the tragic news followed soon after.

On the field, Rinku did not feature in the playing eleven for the Zimbabwe match, as team management opted for a different combination. In the tournament so far, he has had limited opportunities and managed modest scores in his appearances.

India is now set to face West Indies in the final Super Eight clash in Kolkata, a match that will determine their semifinal qualification. For Rinku, however, the days ahead will be about balancing professional commitment with personal grief, as he copes with an irreplaceable loss.
