Global software giant Adobe is preparing for a major leadership transition as long time chief executive Shantanu Narayen announced his decision to step down from the CEO position. After leading the company for nearly eighteen years Narayen said he believes it is the right time to hand over executive responsibilities to a new leader.

Although he is leaving the CEO role Narayen will remain closely connected with the company. Adobe confirmed that he will continue serving as chairman of the board and will guide the organization during the transition until a new chief executive is appointed.

The Adobe board has already begun the search for Narayen successor. A special committee has been formed to identify the right candidate who can lead the company in the next phase of innovation. The board is considering both internal leaders and experienced external executives as part of a transparent selection process.

During his long tenure Narayen played a critical role in reshaping Adobe business strategy. One of his most significant decisions was transforming the company from a packaged software provider into a cloud based subscription platform. This shift helped Adobe expand rapidly and strengthen its global position in the software industry.

When Narayen took over as CEO in 2007 Adobe had around three thousand employees and generated revenue of roughly one billion dollars. Today the company employs nearly thirty thousand people and its annual revenue has grown to about twenty five billion dollars. Narayen said he feels proud of the achievements accomplished together with employees during this remarkable journey.

Adobe Lead Independent Director Frank Calderoni praised Narayen leadership and said he built a strong foundation for the company in the era of artificial intelligence and digital creativity. According to him Narayen vision helped Adobe become one of the most influential technology companies in the world.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also congratulated Narayen and acknowledged his contributions. In a message shared on social media Nadella said Narayen leadership helped transform Adobe into one of the most important software companies globally.

Narayen joined Adobe nearly three decades ago and gradually rose through the ranks before becoming CEO. Under his leadership flagship products such as Photoshop and Creative Cloud gained massive popularity worldwide and became essential tools for designers developers and creative professionals.

As Adobe now searches for a new chief executive the company continues to build on the strong foundation created during Narayen leadership, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its global technology journey.
