The Akshaya Patra Foundation has completed 25 years of service, marking a significant milestone of delivering 5 billion meals to children across India, reinforcing its role in supporting child nutrition and education.

A special event was held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi to commemorate the achievement. President Droupadi Murmu attended as the chief guest, while Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was present as the guest of honour.

The foundation, led by its founder and chairman Madhu Pandit Dasa along with key members of its leadership, highlighted its vision of building a nourished and educated India. The initiative continues to focus on improving access to nutritious meals for school children, particularly from underprivileged backgrounds.

Currently, the organisation operates in multiple states and union territories, serving over 2 million children daily through an extensive network of centralized kitchens. Officials said the scale and efficiency of operations have helped ensure consistent meal delivery to students in government and government aided schools.

Looking ahead, the foundation aims to expand its reach further, with a target of serving 3 million children every day by 2030. The initiative is expected to strengthen efforts toward improving school attendance and learning outcomes.

During the event, the President also interacted with students and families, underlining the importance of nutrition in education and overall development. The milestone celebration reflected the foundation’s continued commitment to social impact and nation building.
