- Free LPG cylinders for migrant workers doubled by centre
- States to distribute LPG cylinders through civil supplies departments
- Oil companies support delivery of LPG to migrant workers
In a move aimed at strengthening support for migrant workers, the central government has decided to double the allocation of free LPG cylinders across all states and Union Territories. The enhanced supply is expected to improve access to clean cooking fuel for thousands of workers.
The decision was formally communicated by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to state authorities, directing them to ensure that the increased allocation reaches the intended beneficiaries without delay. Officials have been instructed to closely monitor distribution to avoid any gaps.
Under the revised plan, five kilogram free trade LPG cylinders will be supplied through state Food and Civil Supplies Departments. These departments will handle distribution exclusively for migrant workers, ensuring that the benefit is targeted and effectively delivered.
The allocation increase is based on the earlier average daily supply of cylinders provided to migrant workers. By doubling this number, the government aims to meet growing demand and provide consistent support, especially for workers living away from their home states.
Oil marketing companies will play a key role in the process by managing logistics and ensuring timely delivery of cylinders. Their coordination with state agencies is expected to streamline operations and maintain uninterrupted supply.
This initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on welfare measures for migrant workers, helping them access essential resources like cooking fuel more easily while reducing their daily expenses.
