A disturbing case reported from Gujarat’s Morbi district has triggered outrage after police arrested a man and his landlord over allegations involving the abuse of a woman and her minor daughter.

According to investigators, the family had moved from Surendranagar to Morbi around six months ago in search of work and better livelihood opportunities. They were staying in a rented house for a monthly rent of Rs 2000.

Police said the family later faced severe financial difficulties and could not pay rent for several months. As unpaid dues increased, the situation reportedly took a horrifying turn.

Officials alleged that the father allowed the landlord to exploit his wife and minor daughter in exchange for clearing the pending rent amount. Authorities claim the abuse continued repeatedly over a period of time.

The matter came to light after the woman informed her mother about the harassment and assault. Shocked by the details, the victim’s mother immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Following the complaint, Morbi police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act along with other serious criminal charges. Police later arrested both the father and the landlord.

Deputy Superintendent of Police J M Lal said investigators are also searching for another person suspected to have links to the case. Officials confirmed that further investigation is currently underway.
