Delhi Police denies permission to Faruqui after VHP letter

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Police denied permission to comedian Munawar Faruqui from performing here, police said on Saturday. The development comes after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) wrote a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner urging the cancellation of Faruqui’s show on August 28 in the Central Delhi area. In its letter, the VHP raised several objections against Faruqui’s show and said if the police would not cancel the show, then VHP and Bajrang Dal members would hold a protest against the show. A VHP member in a tweet expressed gratitude to Delhi Police after canceling the order. A screenshot of an email was also posted which confirmed the cancellation of the show.
