To reduce crowding at RTO offices and improve citizen services, the transport department has shifted several processes online. One of the most useful services is the driving license address change, which can now be completed from home through the Parivahan website.
Applicants must keep valid address proof ready before starting the process. Documents such as Aadhaar card, passport, bank statement, or utility bills in the applicant’s name are accepted. A recent passport size photograph is also required. For applicants above 40 years of age, a medical certificate in the prescribed format is mandatory.
The application begins by visiting the official Parivahan portal using a mobile or desktop. After selecting online services, users must choose driving license related services and then select the current state of residence. The option to apply for change of address will appear after entering the driving license number and date of birth.
Once the address details are updated, the system displays the applicable fee. This payment can be completed online without visiting any office. After submission, applicants need to book an appointment at the nearest RTO for document verification.
On the scheduled date, the applicant must visit the RTO with original documents for verification. After successful approval, the updated smart card driving license with the new address is sent directly to the registered address by post.
