A proud moment for Telugu cinema unfolded in the national capital as veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna was honored with a prestigious lifetime achievement award at the International Film Festival of Delhi 2026. The recognition marked his extraordinary five decade journey in Indian cinema, celebrating both his artistic excellence and lasting influence.
The award ceremony was held at Bharat Mandapam, where Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the honor to Balakrishna in the presence of several prominent personalities. The event also saw the participation of notable figures including Hema Malini, Kangana Ranaut and Sharmila Tagore, adding grandeur to the celebrations.
Balakrishna, son of legendary actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, has carried forward his father’s legacy with remarkable consistency. Over the years, he has carved a unique identity with powerful performances and distinctive dialogue delivery, earning a special place among the stalwarts of Telugu cinema.
Beyond films, Balakrishna continues to contribute to society through public service. As a Hindupur MLA and chairman of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital, he has been actively involved in supporting healthcare initiatives and helping countless patients. His contributions have also earned him national recognition, including the Padma Bhushan award.
The International Film Festival of Delhi, which runs until March 31, features films from multiple languages and honors legends of Indian cinema.
