Customers planning bank visits in May 2026 are advised to take note of the holiday schedule, as banks will remain closed for a total of nine days during the month. The list includes a combination of weekends and important festival holidays.

According to the calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India, bank closures will include all Sundays along with designated Saturdays. In addition to these regular offs, two major occasions will also contribute to the holiday count.

Banks will remain closed on May 1 on account of May Day, followed by another holiday on May 27 for Bakrid. These festival closures, along with five Sundays and two Saturdays, bring the total number of non working days to nine.

Officials have clarified that despite physical branches being closed on these days, customers will continue to have access to essential services through digital platforms. Online banking, mobile apps and UPI services will function without interruption.

With multiple holidays lined up, account holders are encouraged to plan their branch related work in advance to avoid last minute inconvenience. The availability of digital services ensures that most transactions can still be completed smoothly even on non working days.
