The minister said the country has achieved self-sufficiency in meeting its needs of chemical fertilisers which is about 3.40 lakh ton per year and more importance is being accorded to the production of Nano Urea presently. Khooba said despite international prices rising high, fertilizer prices are less in India because of the 1.40 lakh crore subsidy provided during last fiscal and the same is likely to increase to Rs 2.50 lakh crore during the current financial year.
