Encounter in Bijapur Leaves Two Maoists Dead

A fierce encounter erupted in the forest region of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, leading to the death of two Maoists during an ongoing security operation.

The incident occurred after intelligence inputs suggested the presence of armed Maoists in the area. Acting on the information, joint teams of security forces launched a combing operation early Thursday.

During the search, the forces came face to face with Maoist cadres, triggering heavy exchange of fire from both sides.

After the encounter ended, officials confirmed that two Maoists were killed in the gunfight. Their bodies were later recovered from the spot.

Security personnel also seized an AK 47 rifle and a 9 mm pistol from the encounter site, indicating the presence of armed insurgents in the region.

The identities of the deceased Maoists are yet to be confirmed, and efforts are underway to establish their background and group affiliation.

Officials stated that search operations are still continuing in nearby forest areas to ensure no remaining militants escape.
