Chandigarh: A shocking case of child abuse has come to light from Haryana where a father allegedly beat his young daughter to death after she failed to recite numbers correctly. The incident occurred in Faridabad district and has triggered outrage over extreme parental violence.
The accused Krishna Jaiswal originally from Uttar Pradesh was living with his family in a rented house in Jharsenthali village. He and his wife worked in a private company and had three children including a seven year old son and two daughters aged four and two.
According to police the incident took place on January 21 when the four year old girl stayed home instead of going to school. While teaching her counting at home the father became angry when she could not count up to fifty. In a fit of rage he allegedly assaulted the child using a chapati rolling stick from the kitchen.
The child lost consciousness following the beating. Panicked by her condition the father rushed her to a nearby government hospital where doctors declared her dead. He then informed his wife claiming the girl had died after accidentally falling from the stairs while playing.
When the mother reached the hospital she noticed multiple injuries on the child’s body and suspected foul play. She immediately lodged a complaint with the police. During questioning the accused reportedly confessed to the crime.
Police have arrested the man and sent the child’s body for postmortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine all circumstances surrounding the incident.
