Serious concerns have emerged over the JEE Main 2026 provisional answer key, with coaching institutes alleging multiple errors that could impact student ranks, while the testing agency remains silent so far.

- JEE Main 2026 answer key errors raised by coaching bodies
- Students fear rank impact due to incorrect JEE answers
- Demand grows for bonus marks in JEE Main
The provisional answer key released for JEE Main 2026 has triggered widespread concern among students and educators, with coaching institutes alleging multiple serious mistakes that could affect merit rankings.
The Coaching Federation of India has stated that as many as seventeen questions in the answer key contain errors. According to the federation, some questions have incorrect numerical values, others include more than one correct option, while several suffer from vague wording and calculation mistakes.
The federation warned that even a single mark can significantly alter a student’s rank in a highly competitive exam like JEE Main. It urged authorities to treat the flawed questions as bonus questions to protect students from unfair disadvantage.
JEE Main 2026 Session One was conducted online between January 21 and January 29, with nearly thirteen lakh candidates appearing nationwide. The provisional answer key was released on February 4, and objections were accepted until February 6.
Coaching experts pointed out that ten questions were fundamentally flawed, while seven others had incorrect options or multiple valid answers. A majority of the disputed questions were reported from the physics section, raising concerns about quality checks.
The objection process has also drawn criticism, as students were required to pay a fee for each challenge, even when the error was not theirs. Coaching bodies noted that similar issues were reported in previous years, calling for stricter scrutiny before final results are declared.
