The vitriolic attack on the BJP-led government at the Centre by the state Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao, accusing it of demolishing democratic institutions and misuse of the central agencies, indeed raises many ponders over the reasons behind his anger. That too soon after the keenly fought Munugode by-poll where a record 93 percent polling was registered which was never heard of in the recent past anywhere in the country. What may that indicate, including the enthusiasm among the electorate of showing their gratitude to the ruling party and its governance?But, KCR’s tone and tenor lacks on Thursday soon after the polling process was completed doesn’t indicate any such confidence. All he spoke about the by-poll was more of complaining over his party’s arch-rival the BJP, which during the campaigning has indulged in all sorts of ‘dirty tricks’ like circulating ‘misinformation’ and ‘fake videos. Many who watched his press conference which lasted close to 40-45 minutes, were seen KCR complaining about how the BJP is destabilizing the democratically elected governments, so far in as many as eight states. “Another four states, including his Telangana, is under the BJP’s crooked game plan” he pointed out. To drive home his point, he refers to the recent poaching of four of his MLAs.KCR said that the Cyberabad police who have completed their investigations into the poaching conspiracy of his four MLAs have submitted their report to the state High Court.
He claimed that said copies of the report are also being sent to the Chief Justice of India, Supreme Court (SC), besides all State’s High Courts, and State’s Chief Ministers.
He explained his government’s reason to circulate the copies as he genuinely wanted to pray to the Chief Justice of the SC to take cognizance of the ‘poaching conspiracy’ which is being carried out by the so-called national party, in a bid to destabilize democratically elected governments like his. In the same tone, KCR also sought the SC interventions to prevent the BJP-headed Central government from misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax, among others. According to him, the BJP’s bid is to fix the Opposition members who dare question their policies.
What surprises many was how he can cry foul when he has encouraged defections from opposition parties, whether soon after the 2014 or 2018 assembly polls. Hence, like to ask him the following questions; · KCR ji can you deny that you encouraged large-scale defections soon after the 2014 assembly polls and later in 2018, from the Congress, TDP, and YSRCP?
· Is it not true that all those who joined your party ranks got benefitted either with cabinet berths or nominated posts or RS membership or MLC?
· Can you deny the fact that the PCC floor leader demanded on both occasions (2014 and 2018) for poaching their MLAs after winning on the Congress party tickets or other party symbols? · Did you respect the HC directives by stating that the Assembly Speaker enjoys the right to accept or reject as it is in his domain? · How many times did you honor the High Court directives?
Having done all that mischief, how can you cry foul now? If you do it is Constitutional and if the BJP does it, it is unconstitutional.
Can you please explain the logic?
Is it not true that on several occasions KCR ji you even insulted journalists who picked up the courage to ask you uncomfortable questions, including a national daily reporter, not so long ago?
When did KCR realize that the media is the fourth estate of the Constitution, which is also wrong as it is nowhere in the Constitutional books?
Merely saying that the media is a four estate after Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary is nothing short of a blatant lie. Amenable media is being taken care of by several party governments in the past and your party is no exception.
Where was the need for KCR to take on the Centre and accuse it of indulging in all sorts of things to destabilize the democratically elected governments?
Barring in Madhya Pradesh, when a disgruntled senior Congress leader Scindia, broke the party along with 15-20 MLAs joined the BJP and also helped it to form the government. What happened in Maharashtra everyone knows. The electorate gave their mandate to pre-poll allies BJP-Shiv Sena required numbers to form the government yet again. But what happened later everyone knows. A power-hungry and most incompetent Udhav Thackeray to become Chief Minister dumped the BJP and entered into an unholy alliance with sworn enemies like the Congress and Sharad Pawar’s National Congress. The coalition government collapsed when the real and committed Shiv Saniks chose to split the party as per the anti-defection law to form the government with its old ally BJP. What’s wrong?
Moreover, some of KCR’s accusations against the BJP, appears to many political analysts as ‘pot calling kettle black.” What those who are neutrals in the media were expecting KCR was to be to boast that his party is winning the Munugodu polls hands down. Many in the media also expected him to announce how he is going to spearhead his new Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) and intensify its expansion plans on the national polit
Instead, he chose the other way giving an impression to many that he is conceding his party’s defeat even before the results are out on November 6.
People in the state can understand KCR’s desperation when he tries to justify even the dark days of emergency and glorify Indira Gandhi as a great leader while ridiculing the most popular prime minister that independent India has ever had and that’s Narendra Modi.
