Hyderabad’s 2022 crime rate remains almost same as 2021 : CP

Hyderabad, Dec 21 : Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand on Wednesday said the overall crime rate this year remained almost the same as the previous year. The overall crime rate included ( IPC + Special Local Laws (SLL) and other non-IPC), he said at a press conference after releasing the Annual Crime Report 2022 here. A total of 22,060 cases registered during the year as against 21,998 cases in the previous year. However, out of 100 FIRs registered daily in the city, 20 FIRs are relating to Cybercrimes, Anand said.There is an increase in cyber crime with 2249 cases registered during the year as against 2066 cases in the previous year, the Police Commissioner said 52 percent cybercrime cases registered in Telangana out of the total cybercrime cases registered in the county.
The routine crimes like snatching, dacoity are now shifting to cyber crimes.
The Top police official said that out of the 2249 cyber crime cases registered in 2022, 10 percent of the cases were detected this year as against 4 per cent last year.To tackle cybercrimes and cyber security threats, the police department is taking a lot of initiatives next year like to train the staff in cyber crimes besides setting up of cyber crime units at zonal and city level police stations, he informed.The murder cases came down to 63 in 2022 from 89 reported last year, kidnapping cases came down from 225 to 220.
, crime cases against women from 2652 to 2524, POCSO cases from 399 to 350, he said.
This year, the Hyderabad City police formed the two special units to deal with narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances under Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement wing, Anand said the police have successfully busted drug rackets and arrested several foreign nationals.
Denying any targets given to traffic policemen for collecting fines, he said our aim is not for collection of fines and our objective is motorist’s safety.
On Challans, he said it was decreased by 40 per cent.
