Plant level mock drill conducted at RINL to test on-site emergency preparedness

Visakhapatnam, Dec 28 : A Plant Level Mock Drill was conducted to test the On-Site Emergency Preparedness following an imaginary Gas Leak, at Gas Mixing Station of Energy Management Department at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) here on Wednesday.
Emergency services like Medical services, Gas Safety, Safety department, Environment Management Dept, CISF (Security), HR department have participated in the mock drill, the steel plant said in a release here.
The Gas Safety Team rushed to the spot immediately along with gas monitors, artificial respirators and carried out analysis of concentration of explosive mixture and administered oxygen to the victims till the arrival of the rescue team.
CISF Security personnel carried out the rescue operation and rescued the affected persons from the spot using Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other emergency response devices.
Andhra Pradesh government Joint Chief Inspector of Factories Mr J. Shiva Shankar Reddy, witnessed the Mock Drill and lauded the efforts of RINL-VSP team in conducting the Mock Drill and gave valuable suggestions for further improvement.
The Plant Level Mock Drill was conducted under the guidance of Mr MSV Krishnaiah, Chief General Manager (Safety & Environment), Visakhapatnam steel plant Senior officials of Visakhapatnam steel plant K Sudhakar, GM (EMD) Incharge and N K Rout, General Manager (Safety) In-charge and Uttam Brahma , GM (Mechanical) who was the chief observer have attended and evaluated the efficacy of the Drill.
