Hyderabad: In a recent meeting at BRK Bhavan, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Harithaharam plantation program and instructed the relevant departments to focus on increasing the greenery in lands belonging to the irrigation department.
As per the instructions of the Chief Minister, saplings should be planted on a large scale in all vacant areas under the irrigation department. The Chief Secretary emphasized the need to create “wealth forests” and plant fruit-bearing trees to support nearby villages and enhance the greenery.
To ensure successful plantation, the Chief Secretary directed the formation of special teams with field-level officials from the Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, and Forest departments for site inspection, identification of tree species, and pre-planning for protection measures.
Protective measures will also be taken up for avenue plantation along all canals, and black plantation will be taken up wherever available. The cooperation of nearby villages and farmers will also be sought to ensure the success of the plantation program.The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of Haritha Vanaalu plantation program undertaken in the forest lands and directed that the targets should be achieved in all the Haritha Vanaalu in the coming season.PCCF RM Dobriyal, Principal Secretary Panchayat Raj Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Commissioner PR&RD Hanumantha Rao, Special Commissioner VSNV Prasad, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
