Hyderabad daily travellers are set to receive major relief as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority moves forward with large scale road expansion plans across key parts of the city. The focus is on easing traffic pressure in fast growing urban corridors.

As part of the initiative, HMDA has cleared proposals to widen existing roads and construct a brand new six lane roadway passing through the city’s central zone. Officials say the project will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce long travel delays.

One of the key developments is the construction of a six lane road in Manikonda. With residential and commercial growth accelerating in Manikonda, Kokapet and Puppalaguda, traffic density in these areas has increased sharply in recent years.

To address this issue, a six lane corridor will be built from MGIT junction to Manikonda. The stretch will cover 3.57 kilometres and is estimated to cost around Rs 110 crore. The road will include modern footpaths, drainage systems and landscaping on both sides.

Once completed, the new corridor is expected to offer smoother connectivity from Gandipet towards Manikonda and nearby localities, benefiting both residents and daily office travellers.

In another major decision, HMDA has planned road widening works in the Financial District region. The existing road between Nanakramguda and Gachibowli will be expanded from three lanes to four lanes to handle increasing traffic volumes.

The government has already sanctioned Rs 26.50 crore for this expansion, and necessary administrative approvals have also been cleared. Officials indicated that construction work will begin shortly.

The widened road is expected to provide easier access from Gachibowli towards the Outer Ring Road, helping to ease traffic during peak office hours.

Urban planners say these projects are part of a broader strategy to strengthen Hyderabad’s internal connectivity. With lakhs of people travelling daily for employment and business, traffic congestion has become one of the city’s biggest challenges.

Authorities believe the new roads, along with upcoming flyovers and underpasses, will help daily travellers reach destinations faster and improve overall travel efficiency across Hyderabad.
