Even compared to people who sat for nine hours, extended sitting dramatically increased the likelihood of complications.

The good news is that small movements throughout the day can make a significant difference. Just 30 minutes of brisk walking or light running daily can reduce heart disease risks by up to 62 percent. Alternating sitting with house chores or standing activities can also cut the chance of heart attack or early mortality by nearly 50 percent. Even lying down for short periods instead of sitting continuously can lower cardiovascular strain by about 14 percent.

Globally, around nine million people are admitted to hospitals each year with chest pain. Persistent discomfort after discharge can indicate underlying heart concerns. Experts emphasize that incorporating minor activity into daily routines is far more manageable than structured, long workouts and is highly beneficial for cardiovascular health.
