In a significant political development, Nara Lokesh has officially taken charge as the Working President of the Telugu Desam Party. The oath taking ceremony was held at the party’s central office in Mangalagiri, drawing participation from senior leaders and party members across various levels.

The ceremony was led by party chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who administered the oath to Lokesh in the presence of politburo members and representatives from both national and state committees.

The announcement comes alongside a major organisational revamp within the party. Nearly 250 members have been included across different committees, making it one of the largest structural expansions in recent years. A notable highlight of this reshuffle is the inclusion of mandal presidents and cluster in charges in the politburo for the first time, reflecting a clear push toward empowering grassroots leadership.

Speaking at the event, Chandrababu Naidu underlined the strength and resilience of the party, noting its journey over more than four decades. He stated that the party continues to uphold its identity and values, while encouraging workers to step up and take on leadership roles. According to him, the new structure ensures a balance between experienced leaders and emerging voices, reinforcing the idea that every dedicated worker has the potential to lead.

Lokesh’s elevation is being viewed as a strategic move to energise the cadre and prepare the party for upcoming electoral challenges. By integrating leaders from the ground level into key decision making bodies, the party aims to strengthen its connect with workers and expand its reach.

The development signals a blend of continuity and change within the organisation, as the party looks to build on its legacy while adapting to evolving political dynamics.
