Former minister Harish Rao has raised serious allegations regarding an alleged land controversy involving government property in Shamshabad, claiming that land worth nearly Rs 1000 crore was transferred to private individuals through questionable procedures.
Addressing a media gathering in Hyderabad along with several party leaders, Harish Rao questioned the sequence of decisions taken by officials regarding land located in Peddashapur village of Shamshabad mandal. He claimed that around 170 acres had earlier been identified as government land.
According to his statement, an RDO had reportedly submitted an affidavit before the High Court identifying the land as government property. However, within a few days, a separate order allegedly classified the same land as private property, raising doubts over the process.
Harish Rao questioned how such a major decision could have been taken without the involvement of senior officials. He also asked whether a local revenue official alone could have approved a change involving land of such high value.
The former minister further alleged that entries linked to land records require approval from higher authorities and claimed that the issue deserved a deeper examination. He expressed concern that simply transferring an official from the position would not be sufficient if serious irregularities had occurred.
Demanding strict action, he called for a Special Investigation Team or CID inquiry into the matter. He also sought the dismissal of the concerned official and requested that the disputed land be immediately placed under the prohibited property list until further review.
The allegations have now brought fresh political attention to land administration and record management systems, with demands for greater transparency and accountability in the handling of public property matters.
