Telangana Government Clarifies Fake Mahalaxmi Smart Card Claims

The Telangana government has dismissed viral social media claims about paid Mahalaxmi Smart Cards, stating that no official decision has been taken and free bus travel continues as usual.

  • Mahalaxmi Smart Card claims are fake.
  • Telangana Government issued an official clarification.
  • Free bus travel continues without a new card.

The Telangana government has officially denied reports circulating on social media regarding the launch of special Mahalaxmi Smart Cards for women. Authorities clarified that claims suggesting the cards would be issued from June 2 for a fee of Rs. 50 are completely false and have no connection with any official government decision.

According to government sources, no final announcement has been made regarding the issuance of separate cards under the Mahalaxmi scheme. Officials said that information being shared online is misleading and people should rely only on official communications for updates related to welfare programs.

The government explained that future beneficiary services will be integrated into a single multipurpose card system currently under development. This proposed Integrated Card is expected to combine multiple government welfare schemes and services under one platform, making access easier for citizens.

Officials further stated that women will eventually be able to use the Integrated Card for free bus travel benefits, eliminating the need for separate cards for individual schemes. However, the project is still under consideration and details regarding its implementation are yet to be finalized.

The image of the so called Mahalaxmi Smart Card being widely shared online is not an official design. Authorities clarified that it appears to be an unofficial sample created by unknown individuals and should not be treated as genuine government material.

Until any new system is formally introduced, women can continue to avail free bus travel using Aadhaar cards or other valid government identification documents as per existing rules. There has been no change in the current procedure.

The government urged citizens not to believe or share unverified information on social media. Officials assured that all details regarding the Integrated Card project, including eligibility, procedures, launch dates and costs, will be announced publicly through official channels once a final decision is made.
