A tense situation unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir after hundreds of tourists became stranded in the air following a technical issue in the Gulmarg Gondola cable car system. Rescue teams later managed to bring everyone back safely after an operation that lasted several hours.

The incident took place while tourists were using the famous Gulmarg Gondola service, known as one of the highest cable car systems in Asia. Officials said the cabins unexpectedly stopped during operations, leaving passengers suspended at significant heights.

Authorities stated that more than 300 tourists were affected by the disruption. Some of the cabins reportedly remained suspended nearly 500 feet above the ground, creating anxious moments for passengers waiting for help.

Rescue operations faced additional challenges because of heavy rainfall in the area. Despite difficult weather conditions, teams from national and state disaster response forces along with army personnel and police worked together to carry out the rescue effort.

Officials confirmed that around 65 cabins were involved during the incident and the operation continued for nearly seven hours before every stranded passenger was safely brought down.

No injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident, bringing relief to families and authorities. Investigators are now examining the technical reasons that caused the disruption while restoration work on the cable car system is also underway.
