Dhaka: Indian Coast Guard (ISG) has rescued 27 Bangladeshi fishermen stranded in the Bay of Bengal due to natural disasters. ISG rescued these fishermen trapped in several trawlers during the Marat hon search operation of the last two days.
According to ISG sources, they first rescued 10 Bangladeshi fishermen by carrying out an operation on Saturday. Later on Sunday, 17 people were rescued again. The rescued fishermen told the members of the Coast Guard that on August 16, they went out to fish in the deep sea from Bangladesh’s Mongla seaport.
Then on August 19, they all fell into a cyclone in the middle of the sea. It is known that there were three trawlers in total. Two of these trawlers capsized in the storm. The remaining trawler was rescued.
After that, the fishermen in the boat started swimming in the water. According to army sources, since the time of the disaster, the Dornier aircraft of the Indian Coast Guard was carrying out search operations in the air. On the other hand, two rescue ships of the force, ICGS ANMOL and ICG S VARAD were operating in the isolated deep sea area.
They were rescued in Indian waters near India- Bangladesh waters in the deep sea on Sunday morning.ISG West Beng al DIG Pankaj Verma told reporters that the rescued fishermen are in the force’s rescue ship. They are being brought to Haldia in the East Medinipur district.
