Students Agitate over NEET Key Released by NTA

Date:

The South India times: Students are greatly worried about the NEET 2022 preliminary ‘key’ released by NTA. After comparing the answers given by this ‘key’;, students have realized that some of the questions given in the NEET 2022 exam were very vague and have conceptual (concept) errors.

In Physics, the question of the photoelectric effect is completely counter-conceptualized so the students were compelled to give up on it, losing marks for it. Similarly, in Botany – for a question related to anatomy, five statements were given; the student was to pick the correct statements. As per NECERT books, all five statements are correct, however, the key given by NTA is not in line with the NCERT books. 90% of students lost their marks here. In another parallel occurrence, in Chemistry, a question related to the solid state the language used was not clear – resulting in the question having more than one correct option, causing a great deal of discomfort to the students.

It’s vital to understand that NEET is an exam that determines admissions into medical education – an exam that affects the careers of millions of students who dream of becoming a doctor. Therefore, NEET question papers must be error-free and clear as one mark could decide whether a student gets into a medical college or not. In such situations, if the questions are wrong, unclear, or doubtful, students may not be able to identify the answer which the NTA thinks is correct.

Even one such question can have a negative impact on the student. He may not perform well in answering all the rest of the other questions. Thus, the dreams of the students may be shattered. So, recognizing this problem, NTA must conduct the NEET exam with questions that are without errors. It must also ensure that there are no errors in the final key which would be released tomorrow and likewise must ensure justice to the students in every manner possible.

Sri Chaitanya’s subject experts on reviewing the “key” released by NTA have agreed and stood by the students stating that there are glaring errors in the key.
