CCI approves merger of HDFC Bank, HDFC Ltd

Mumbai August 14: The Competition Commission of India (CCE) has approved the proposal for the merger of HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd. Commission approves the proposed combination involving the amalgamation of HDFC Limited HDFC Bank, HDFC Investments and HDFC Holdings CCE said in a tweet on the microblogging platform Twitter of Friday.

Whenever a deal over a certain limit has been struck in the marketplace then it needs approval from the regulator to keep a tab on unfair business practices. HDFC Ltd the largest housing finance company in the country in April had decided to merge with HDFC Bank.
