Sensex falls 79 pts

The BSE Sensex on Wednesday fell by 79 points at 61,041.36 in opening trade on profit booking by local operators.
The Nifty too declined 29.85 points at 18,115.55. The stocks like Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services and Utilities were seen weak in opening trade. The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 61,209.65 and 60,965.58 points respectively.


The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 18,178.75 and 18,101.85 points respectively.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.19 per cent while Small Cap by 0.50 per cent. In 30 scrips 12 advanced while 18 declined. The losers were Bharti Airtel by 2.07 per cent to Rs 818.05, Titan by 1.31 per cent to Rs 2717, Maruti Suzuki by 1.20 per cent to Rs 9341.50 and Infosys by 1.13 per cent to Rs 1555. The gainers were Sun Pharma by 2.35 per cent to Rs 1057.40, Tech Mahindra by 2.32 per cent to Rs 1097 and ITC by 1.42 per cent to Rs 354.35.
