2 NCC camps in state this year, govt to provide all facilities: CM

Date:

Bengaluru, Feb 7: Two NCC camps – one in Kalyana Karnataka and another in Central Karnataka – will be held in the State this year and the State Government will provide all the facilities required for this, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Speaking at a function to felicitate NCC Contingent of Karnataka and Goa which participated in this years Republic Day Parade in Delhi after hosting a dinner at the Banquet Hall Vidhana Soudha on Monday night, he said the NCC cadets have made both Karnataka and Goa proud by taking part in R-Day Parade as well as by bagging the prizes.
The selection is not easy as only 111 cadets have been selected out of the total 95,000 cadets, he said pointing out that it will hold the mirror to their capacity.
The Chief Minister said the NCC came into existence in 1947 to build a strong young parade. Discipline is very important and that helps in personality development. The country needs history and it has, but it requires character also. We have the acharyas but we need to practice them. That practice exists in NCC. It is a matter of regret that the number of youths enrolling in the NCC is declining every year in the current modern world. Officers must inspire the students to join NCC,’’ he said. NCC must grow on lines of a regiment Bommai wanted NCC to grow along the lines of the regiment. As the battalion is built as a regiment even NCC must grow as a regiment and then only it will gain importance. It will also prompt the youths to join NCC. For personality development, NCC is best and cadets from all over the state including rural areas have joined.
“All the cadets are meritorious and intelligent and what they need is self-confidence which they will get from NCC. They must face the challenges of life and change their lives accordingly. The personality will be different before and after joining NCC,’’ he said 75 units to be started this year.
Bommai said the courage and self-confidence that they will get in NCC help them in life. The state government is ready to provide any assistance to NCC. During the birth centenary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, they announced of starting new 75 new units will start from the current year. For the first time in the history of Karnataka, 75 units are added, he said. This year, the Chief Minister said more than 2800 new cadets are expected to join NCC. Many of them will bank on luck but nothing is bigger than hard work. The NCC cadets must love their nation, state, and parents. Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayana, Minister B A Basavaraj,Karnataka & Goa States NCC Contingent heads were present.
