AAP Protests outside CBI office, demands probe

Date:

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs and MP Sanjay Singh staged a protest outside the CBI headquarters here on Wednesday demanding a probe against the BJP’s alleged “Operation Lotus” that they said was aimed at toppling state governments held by other parties.

The MLAs and Rajya Sabha members gathered outside the headquarters of the agency holding placards and said they had come to meet the CBI Director to file a complaint. The development came after the AAP MLAs sought time to meet the Director.

“We want an investigation into BJP’s Operation Lotus. We want to know where this money came from to buy the MLAs” said AAP MLA.

Earlier, AAP leader Atishi tweeted that the party is demanding an investigation into the Rs 6300 crore allegedly spent by BJP on ‘Operation Lotus.”

He said, “Delegation of AAP MLAs is en route to CBI Headquarters to file a complaint against ‘Operation Lotus’. We are demanding an investigation into the sources of 6300 crores spent by BJP on ‘Operation Lotus’ across the country.”

Attacking Lt Governor V K Saxena over his decision to take legal action against four AAP MLAs including herself, she said.”Why is the LG running away from an ED, or CBI probe? If he has done nothing wrong, he must come out clean”

Earlier the Lt Governor decided to legal action against AAP MLAs Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi, Durgesh Pathak, and Jasmine Shah for defamatory and false allegations of corruption attributed to his tenure as Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industry Commission.

The AAP alleged in the Delhi Assembly that Saxena has forced his employees to exchange demonetized notes of Rs.1400 crore in 2016 when he was the KVIC Chairman. The AAP MLAs demanded a CBI and ED probe into the matter and demanded his resignation
