Adequate security for Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kashmir: LG Sinha

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Friday said adequate security arrangements have been made for the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the administration will facilitate it smoothly. Lieutenant Governor was talking to mediapersons after laying foundation stone of 39 blocks comprising 936 flats Transit Accommodation for Kashmiri Pandits who are working in Kashmir valley under PM Package Employees at Zewan, Srinagar Friday.
The housing colony Is being made for the Kashmiri Pandit employees working in the valley under the Prime Ministers Development Package (PMDP), is being constructed on 113 Kanals of land by R&B Department. It will have 39 blocks comprising 936 flats. He said adequate security arrangements have been placed for the smooth Bharat Jodo Yatra of congress leader Rahul Gandhi. “ I think there is nothing to worry about regarding yatra”, he added.
He said there was a time when land was not available for making the houses for the KP’s now everywhere work has been started and some have been completed and others are under construction that would be completed till December this year. The KP employees have also been promoted and those who were non-gazetted having been placed in gazette posts sent to the Public Service Commission are expected to get within ten days.“For the security of the KPs the authorities with the help of Jammu and Kashmir police have made adequate arrangements and other measures have been taken up. I think their security has been sanitized properly”.
The Lieutenant Governor said the highest number of KPs working in Kashmir are in Srinagar where a big housing project has been started in Srinagar today and R&B has assured the project is likely to be completed by December this year.

He said this will end the agony of the KP’s working in Srinagar for which the government is taking all measures.“I understand that with the completion of this project the problem of the KP’s who are working under PM’s package here would come to an end”, he added.
“We have initiated a sensitive effort to address the problem of KP’s especially those who are employees working in Kashmir or in Jammu… the authorities are in touch and the genuine problems have been addressed”, the LG said , and added “It was once a time that the posts which were vacant were not being fulfilled now all have been fulfilled”. Regarding the land eviction, the LG reiterated that the ongoing drive to vacate State land from the encroachers is against the influential people who misused the power and grabbed huge land. “I want to assure the poor and common man that they won’t be touched and that they shouldn’t be afraid,” the LG said. The Lt Governor interacted with officials at the site and laid emphasis on timely completion of the project. He said the maximum PM Package employees are based in Srinagar and with the creation of this facility, their housing problem will be solved. Earlier in the month of December, the Lt Governor conducted on-site inspection and took first hand appraisal of the ongoing construction work of Transit Accommodations for PM Package employees at Baramulla and Bandipora.
