Kolkata: Accusing the BJP of spreading “canards” against her and attempt- ing to brand everyone in the Trinamool Congress as “thieves”, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said her “final battle” would be to oust the saffron party from the center. Banerjee, also the TMC chairperson, took on those calling her party “corrupt” and said had she not been in power or politics “I would have asked my sisters to snap the tongues of those trying to slander us”.Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion of the foundation day of the party’s students wing Trinamool Chhatra Parishad here, Banerjee complained her name was being dragged into every development.”If (former minister and Trinamool leader) Partha Chatterjee has indulged in corruption, the law will take its course, But Partha is a thief, Bobby (Minister Firhad Hakim) is a thief, Aroop (Minister Aroop Biswas) is a thief, Abhishek (Banerjee) is a thief.
I am also a thief. We are all thieves and you are saints,” Banerjee said. It was Banerjee’s first political rally after the arrest of two of her close aides Chatterjee and Anubrata Mondal by central agencies on graft allegations.
