Patna, Dec 11 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday called for unity among all opposition parties to oust BJP from power in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, saying BJP would certainly face crushing defeat if opposition parties got united at national level.
Kumar while addressing open session of national council of his party JD(U) convened to ratify election of Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh as party president for next term, said that he would request all opposition parties to evolve unity at national level to oust BJP from power in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It was certain that BJP would face crushing defeat in next parliamentary elections if all opposition parties got united at national level, he added. “ I have suggested all opposition parties to join hands which would be main front not the third front, to take on BJP”, Chief Minister said adding that it was for opposition parties leaders whether they would accept his suggestion for unity at national level. His only desire was for national level unity of all opposition parties to ensure defeat of BJP, Kumar said.
Kumar, in his veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said the state was already a developed one where he was born.Making reference to Gujarat and other developed states, he said.
that present regime was supporting those who were already developed, he alleged. Chief Minister said that Bihar was backward state but demand for special status to Bihar was not accepted by the Centre.
Bihar and some other backward states should be given the special status to enable them to move on path of development with accelerated pace, he demanded. Kumar also raised the issue of freedom of press facing threat under present regime at the Centre. News of opposition parties were being suppressed in media on instructions from high ups at national level, he further said adding that reports of his party and achievements of his government were not finding space in national media.
