CM Mamata unveils Didir Suraksha Kawach

Date:

Kolkata, Jan 2 : West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday unveiled Didir Suraksha Kawach in order to ensure that every household in Bengal receives the protective shield for residents across ages, economic backgrounds, social status, caste, creed, and religions.A robust feedback mechanism will also be established to ensure that every household in Bengal is secured through welfare schemes by the state government.
Didir Suraksha Kawach is designed to cover six core sectors that are essential for the care and sustenance of human life. There are a total of 15 Government of West Bengal schemes in the Suraksha Kawach to ensure that accessibility, affordability, and quality of public services are enhanced for the welfare of all residents of the State.
The Suraksha Kawach also symbolises the universal security guaranteed to each and every citizen of Bengal through various welfare schemes designed by the Mamata Banerjee government. The campaign will be carried out by Trinamool Congress leaders and workers, who will visit every household and create awareness regarding the Suraksha Kawach. Explaining the campaign during a press conference on Monday, AITC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee said, “We have covered around 99% of the people through our welfare schemes. Duare Sarkar has resolved many of the existing issues. The government will do its job but some complaints are received at the party level as well. Since the government is being run by leaders from Trinamool Congress, this initiative will help party leaders connect with the people of different villages and hear their problems.”She further said, “Like Duare Sarkar, now Trinamool Congress will come to the doorsteps of the people to assist them in accessing welfare schemes. There is a possibility that some members of the family may not know how to apply. Our workers will assist them in their application process free of cost.” While the six core sectors remain Food, Housing, Health, Education, Social Security, Income, and Employment, the 15 Government of West Bengal schemes covered under the Suraksha Kawachinclude Khadya Sathi, Banglar Awas Yojana, Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi, Swasthya Sathi, Kanyashree, Sikshashree, Aikyashree, Student Credit Card, Lakshmir Bhandar, Krishak Bandhu, Samajik Suraksha Yojana, Manabik Pension, Jai Bangla Pension Scheme, Bidhaba Bhata and Yuvashree. The AITC supremo also emphasized the fact that the party believes in continuous development. “All the blocks and municipalities will be covered through this campaign. Unlike others, our decisions are not influenced by the election. We are not the ones who give free ration for six months before elections and then stop it immediately after polls. Before elections, the price of fuel is reduced and then increased more after the conclusion of polls. We do not believe in such steps. Fulfilling our commitments to the people is a continuous process and we have followed that in letter and spirit,” she said. During the two-month-long campaign Didir Suraksha Kawach campaign, Trinamool Congress leaders and workers will be visiting every household across the State in order to identify gaps in the accessibility of these schemes and record grievances regarding their implementation. The campaign will also initiate a robust and effective feedback loop that will strengthen the last-mile delivery of these social welfare schemes.
With the mega launch and unveiling of the campaign on January 2, Mamata Banerjee called upon party workers, or ‘Didir Doots’, to take the Suraksha Kawach to every household in Bengal.
The first outreach model of the campaign — Anchale Ek Din/Nagare Ek Din — will kick-start on January 11, where the state-level party leadership will spend a day each at all Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies across the State. These visits will be spread over a period of 45 days. The next phase of the campaign involves over 3.5 lakh booth workers, who will take Didir Suraksha Kawach to nearly 2 crore households across the State. The residents will be informed about the various schemes covered under the Suraksha Kawach, and their feedback and grievances will be recorded using the Didir Doot mobile application.During the door-to-door visits, Didir Doots will also hand over a letter by AITC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee to the residents of Bengal, along with Didir Suraksha Kawach Wall Calendar and Door sticker. The launch of the holistic campaign comes a day after AITC marked its 26th Foundation Day on Sunday with party National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee reiterating the commitment towards the people by putting social resolutions before political ones.
