New Delhi : A Delhi Court on Saturday after hearing the request on behalf of Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain, closed the opportunity to file the rejoinder to the reply of ED to his application under section 208 Criminal Procedure Code (Supply of copies of statement and documents to accused in other cases triable by Court of Sessions). The court adjourned the matter hearing arguments as last and final opportunity on March, 18.Counsel for Satyendar Kumar Jain seeked time to file rejoinder to the reply filed by ED to his application under Section 208 Cr.P.C. Counsel for Jain again seeked an adjournment for filing the rejoinder as the Senior Counsel is out of town due to some marriage. The request of said adjournment was strongly opposed by Special Public Prosecutor N. K. Matta on the ground that this is the fourth adjournment sought by accused A-1 Satyendar Kumar Jain due to which trial is getting delayed.Special Judge for /MLAs cases, Vikas Dhull after hearing the request on behalf of Jain said, “In the facts, the right of accused A-1 in filing the rejoinder stands closed as several opportunities have been granted to accused A-1 Satyendar Kumar Jain to file rejoinder. However, the request for adjournment is granted as Ld.Senior Counsel for accused A-1 is not available.” The Court said, “Put up on 18.03.2023 at 10.30 a.m. for arguments on the application under Section 208 Cr.P.C. of accused A-1 Satyendar Kumar Jain as last and final opportunity”The court directed Superintendent, Tihar Jail to produce accused A-1 Satyendar Kumar Jain, A-5 Vaibhav Jain and A-6 Ankush Jain through VC on 18.03.2023. Jain is accused of having laundered money through four companies allegedly linked to him and was arrested by Enforcement Directorate in a Money Laundering case based on a CBI FIR lodged against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
