Indore, Jan 10 : Emphasising that “we are facing challenging times” owing to an economic and geopolitical upheaval at the global level, President Droupadi Murmu averred on Tuesday that the Indian diaspora’s collective power will prove to nothing short of a positive force multiplier. Addressing the Valedictory Session of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Madhya Pradesh’s commercial capital, the First Citizen said, “I hope this segment scales towering heights in the future. We are taking measures for safe and ethical migration of Indians for overseas employment with specific reference to women and migrant workers.”The President underlined that massive repatriation exercises have been successfully executed in crisis situations and provided the example of Operation Ganga vis-à-vis Ukraine.“Ideas and suggestions presented over the past three days of deliberations will prove to be immensely valuable in charting the course ahead and setting the entrepreneurial spirit of women across every sector of the economy. Youthful diaspora achievers can play a laudable and stellar role in fostering innovation,” she said during her 11-minute-long speech.Mentioning India’s robust relationship with other nations, the President pointed out that the country is presiding over the G20 this year and the event’s theme is inspired by the ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family). “In the next 25 years, India is going to embark on an ambitious journey characterised by collective hard work and sacrifice. I invite every member of the diaspora family to be a partner in this unique mission. Your technical and other expertise will serve as a catalyst in fulfilling the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. You comprise our extended family members and are nothing short of responsible stakeholders in India’s development,” she added.
