Kanpur to have airport: Yogi

Date:

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Kanpur, which is progressing towards becoming a city with modern amenities under the Smart City Mission, will soon have its own airport.
While launching 272 development projects worth Rs 388 crore during the Prabuddh Jan Sammelan in Kanpur, Yogi said, “Kanpur is progressing towards becoming a city with modern amenities under the Smart City Mission and efforts are being made to connect Kanpur to air transportation. The city will soon have its own airport.” Issuing a stern warning to any criminal or anti-social elements in the state, he said the CCTV cameras installed at every crossing will not allow anyone to play with the security of citizens of the state. “Criminals or antisocial person. who previously used to tease our sisters and daughters at every nook and corner and dared to conduct dacoity will no longer be allowed to do so as CCTV cameras installed in the city record each and every action,” he said.Yogi said, “If someone commits a mischief or does robbery at one crossing, all of those images will be taken and the cops will catch them at the following intersection. The traffic system of 18 cities is being linked to ICCC. No one will dare to violate security any longer.”He said, “Ganga has become uninterrupted and clean in Kanpur. The second and third phases of the Metro rail project will also be finished soon. Kanpur is the focal point of one of the two defence corridors.”
The CM said once Kanpur was referred to as the ‘Manchester of North India’. “It served as a source of employment for people in UP as well as North India, but in the 1970s and 1980s, few people turned their evil eyes to this metropolis, causing chaos, anarchy and resulting in closure of several industries,” he said. He said, “A campaign has been taken forward under the leadership of PM Modi to give the metropolis an ancient identity, in which first of all efforts have been made to maintain the uninterrupted flow and cleanliness of River Ganga.”
Referring to the state government’s efforts to clean the Ganga in Kanpur, Yogi said PM Modi himself had come to Kanpur three years ago. “We have once more contributed to the continuity and cleanliness of Mother Ganga by totally blocking the Sisamau drain, through which 14 crore liters of sewage used to flow into the river. The sewer site has been turned into a selfie point,” he said.He said, “In the supplementary budget of the UP government, we have made a provision of Rs 8,000 crore to build a land bank .
between Kanpur and Jhansi.”
Pointing out that the state government has done the work of changing urban life with speed, the CM said, “Today, UP is well known for the construction of Smart City, ICCC as well as smart roads and expressways. The medical college here is getting equipped with a new infrastructure. The construction work of the super specialty block at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College in Kanpur is progressing vigorously,” he said. He appealed to the intellectuals to invest in the state adding that the Global Investors Summit will be organised in February next year. “Ministers from the state government are touring different countries. A delegation from Australia visited Lucknow to meet with me while another delegation was in Germany. Everyone wants to invest in the state,” he said.
