The victims, identified as Abdullah Dokadia, his wife Nasreen, and their two daughters, reportedly fell ill in the early hours of Sunday. They experienced severe vomiting and diarrhea before dying within a short span of time, leaving authorities searching for answers.
Before their sudden deaths, the family had consumed biryani and watermelon within a few hours. This led investigators to initially suspect food poisoning. Samples of the food items, including the watermelon, were sent for analysis by the Food and Drug Administration.
However, officials later confirmed that no artificial colors or chemical additives were found in the watermelon. The tests did not indicate any form of adulteration, shifting the focus of the investigation. At the same time, authorities clarified that bacterial analysis was not conducted, leaving room for the possibility of contamination.
Meanwhile, findings from the postmortem have raised further concerns. Some internal organs of the deceased were found to have changed color, with parts of the brain, heart, and digestive system reportedly showing a greenish tint. Medical experts noted that such changes are unusual in typical food poisoning cases and could indicate exposure to toxic substances.
Adding to the complexity, morphine, a powerful opioid, was detected in Abdullah’s body. Investigators are now examining whether it was administered as part of any medical treatment or introduced intentionally. This angle has intensified the probe as police continue to explore all possible causes.
