PDP protests against non-local voters

Date:

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers took out a protest march here on Friday against the announcement that 25 Lakh non-local voters can vote during Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Led by party spokesperson Suhail Bukhari, the protesters who held placards marched from the party office on Residency road, shouting slogans. They were stopped by police on Poloview Road. The Chief Election Officer’s statement has triggered resentment among political parties who fear that the move is meant to change the demography in Jammu and Kashmir.
