Chennai Super Kings fans received disappointing news ahead of the team’s final home league match of the IPL 2026 season after veteran wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni was ruled out because of injury concerns. The former captain has reportedly been struggling with a calf strain and recently suffered another injury during practice sessions.

According to team sources, Dhoni injured his thumb while training intensely in the nets before the important clash against Lucknow Super Giants. Medical staff reportedly advised him to avoid travel and rest completely after the latest setback added to his existing fitness problems.

The news has come as a huge disappointment for Chennai supporters, especially because the upcoming match at Chepauk was expected to be the team’s last home appearance of the season. Thousands of fans were hoping to watch Dhoni in action once again at the iconic Chennai stadium.

Many supporters initially believed Dhoni might still feature as an Impact Player despite his injury. However, reports now suggest that the experienced cricketer is unlikely to take part in the match in any role due to the seriousness of the injuries.

Dhoni continues to remain one of the biggest attractions in the IPL, with fans regularly filling stadiums just to watch him bat for a few overs. The Chennai franchise has not yet given clarity on Dhoni’s return for upcoming matches, but fans are now hoping the injuries are not serious enough to affect the remainder of his IPL season.
