Fifteen year old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is continuing to amaze the cricket world with fearless performances in the IPL 2026 season. Representing Rajasthan Royals, the teenage opener once again delivered a stunning display with the bat during the clash against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The young batter smashed 46 runs from just 21 balls and attacked the Delhi bowlers from the very beginning of the innings. His aggressive approach not only helped Rajasthan Royals get another flying start but also pushed him into the IPL record books with a remarkable achievement.
Vaibhav has now hammered 43 sixes this season, becoming the Indian batter with the highest number of sixes in a single IPL season. The previous record belonged to Abhishek Sharma, who had hit 42 sixes for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2024 edition. What makes Vaibhav’s achievement even more special is that 35 of those sixes came during the powerplay overs, proving his dominance in the first six overs of the innings.
Cricket experts and fans are stunned by the power hitting ability shown by the teenager at such a young age. His fearless batting style and clean striking have quickly made him one of the biggest attractions of the tournament.
During the match against Delhi Capitals, Vaibhav also reached another rare milestone. He smashed a six on the very first ball he faced from Lungi Ngidi. With that shot, he entered the elite IPL list of players who managed to hit a six off their first delivery on three separate occasions in the same season. Previously, players like Shahrukh Khan and Sunil Narine had achieved similar feats, while Devdutt Padikkal also joined the list recently.
Vaibhav has now become a key player in the Rajasthan Royals top order and is even outscoring senior opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in terms of impact and strike rate. In 12 matches this season, he has scored 486 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 234.78. Although he narrowly missed the 500 run mark, analysts believe Indian cricket may have already found its next superstar through the rise of Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
