Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved closer to the IPL 2026 playoffs after registering an impressive victory against Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur. The match turned into a memorable night for Virat Kohli, who silenced critics with a stunning century after back to back ducks earlier in the tournament.

KKR entered the contest with confidence after winning four consecutive matches following a difficult start to the season. However, RCB halted their momentum with a controlled chase and solid batting display.

RCB lost their first wicket at 37 when Jacob Bethell was dismissed after scoring 15 runs from 12 deliveries, including two boundaries and a six. Karthik Tyagi provided the breakthrough after Bethell handed a catch back to the bowler.

After the early setback, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. The duo batted comfortably for nearly ten overs and added 92 runs together, taking the game away from Kolkata for a long period.

Just when the match appeared one sided, Karthik Tyagi created some tension by breaking the partnership and picking up important wickets. Despite the late fightback, Kohli remained composed and guided Bengaluru to victory with his outstanding knock.

The win marked RCB’s eighth triumph of the season and significantly strengthened their chances of securing a playoff spot in IPL 2026.
