Tirumala, Aug 20: Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana along with his family members worshipped Lord Venkateswara Swamy here on Friday. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman Y V Subba Reddy, Executive Officer A V Dharma Reddy, and other officials extended a traditional welcome to the CJI’s entourage upon their arrival at the entrance of the hill temple. After being led into the sanctum sanctorum, Justice Ramana and his family members worshipped the presiding deity Lord Venkateswara and also participated in the morning Abhishekam.
He also worshipped in other sub-shrines inside the main temple complex. After the darshan, TTD Veda pundits rendered ‘vedasirvachanam’ on the Chief Justice of India and his family members at the Ranganayakula Mandapam while the TTD Chairman and EO offered the temple’s prasadams and a photo memento of Lord Venkateswara.
The term of Justice Ramana, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, is coming to an end on August 26. He took over as the 48th CJI on April 24, 2021. He had recommended the name of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, the senior judge of the Supreme Court to the Centre as his successor and the latter will take oath as CJI on August 27. Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Ujjal Bhuyan along with his family members also offered prayers at the hill shrine and participated in morning rituals. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who arrived at the temple town on Thursday, also had darshan of lord Balaji and participated in the morning rituals. The TTD officials accorded them a traditional welcome to both VIPs and offered theertha prasadam to them.
