Jagan checkmates MLA Vundavalli Sridevi

Date:

The appointment of former minister and senior YSR Congress party MLC Dokka Manikya Varaprasad as the party in charge of Tadikonda assembly constituency in Guntur district has triggered uproar in the camp of sitting MLA Vundavalli Sridevi.

According to party sources, chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been getting a lot of negative feedback against Sridevi and her frequent clashes with Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh over sharing of booty in sand mining in the Krishna river. Added to that, she has earned a very bad name among the farmers of Amaravati due to her loud-mouth attitude.

After obtaining intelligence reports that she might lose the next election, Jagan decided to appoint a non-controversial leader like Dokka as a replacement to her. This is a sort of triple promotion for Dokka. After defecting from the TDP a couple of years ago, Jagan made him the MLC again and later appointed him as the party whip in the legislative council. Now by indirectly declaring Dokka as the party candidate for the Tadikonda seat, Jagan has sent a message loud and clear to Sridevi that he won’t tolerate the anarchic behavior of any MLA. Obviously, Sridevi was terribly upset. At midnight on Friday, Sridevi staged a protest in front of the house of YSRCP leader and former Minister Mekathoti Sucharita, expressing anger over the appointment of Dokka as additional coordinator of the Tadikonda constituency.

She said it was an insult to her as she was not given any information about Dokka’s appointment. Sucharita convinced Sridevi that she will speak with a party of high command over the issue. Meanwhile, Tadikonda YSRCP leaders were trying to discuss the issue with the party high command. The leaders of four mandals have announced that they will resign if the party didn’t take back its decision within 10 hours.
