The South India times Tirupati: Union Highways, Roads, and Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that the Ministry has in principle accepted the demand for upgrading of state highways passing through Tada and Srikalahasti into a national highway.
In response to a communication by YSRCP member of parliament of Tirupati Dr. M Gurumoorthy, the Union Minister said he had directed officials to ascertain the socioeconomic significance of the proposed road. He said a policy involving factors like traffic density, passenger and freight movement, socio-economic development of the region, and impact on tourism will be drafted. He said that based on all these studies a policy will be framed and priority fixed for its inclusion in the NH construction programs in the country.
