Vijayawada: State Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said BCs are not backward classes but they are the backbone of our society while addressing the mega gathering of BC leaders from 175 constituencies who have come to attend the Jayaho BC Mahasabha held in Vijayawada on Wednesday.
â€śIt is a matter of pride to witness the BC family and making the Mahasabha a grand success,” said the Chief Minister while highlighting the government›s various welfare measures for the BC community. He noted that the AP government has disbursed Rs 1,63,000 cr to the BC community under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Non-DBT methods in the last three years. In DBT alone, Rs. 86,000 Cr has been distributed to the people.
“We have taken steps to empower every sector. Out of the total expenditure of Rs. 3,19,227 Cr spent by the government in the last 3 years under DBT & Non-DBT (for all the schemes), Rs. 2,50,357 Cr has been spent for the SCs/STs/BCs & Minority communities alone. That is, 80% of the expenditure has been dedicated to the minority communities,” said the Chief Minister amid thunderous applause.
Coming down heavily on Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister said, â€śFor the housing scheme and English medium in schools, TDP went to court. To ensure self-respect in all areas, we brought in three capitals but they went to court for that as well. Ours is social justice party, TDP is social injustice party.”
“In 2014, Chandrababu Naidu made 114 promises to BCs but he didn’t fulfill 10% of it. He promised agriculture loan waiver scheme, schemes for Dokra women, KG to PG fee reimbursement for BCs, and iPad for BCs students. His govt said they’ll spend Rs 10,000 cr on the BC sub-plan but he didn’t do anything. Under YSRCP govt, BC does not mean Babu Class or Business class but its Backbone class,” said the Chief Minister.
