Bommai underscores the need for curbing digital crimes

Hubballi-Dharwad, Jan 28: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has underscored the need for cubing digital crimes as criminals have been using technology to carry out their nefarious designs and the investigating agencies need to upskill themselves to be ahead of the criminals.
He was addressing a function in which union home minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone and performed bhumi puja for establishing Karnataka Forensic Sciences University at Dharwad on Saturday.
Cyber crimes, digital crimes, narcotics and other types of sophisticated ways of cheating and defrauding people are on the rise, he said pointing out the need for the investigating officers to be abreast of the latest technological developments so as to be ahead of the game in maintaining law and order situation as well as controlling crimes.
The chief minister lavishly praised Amit Shah and said the union government has been paying special attention to Karnataka under Shah’s leadership. Over 180 special officers on crime scene posts have been filled up and the national forensic sciences unit has also been established, he said.
Bommai appreciated the contribution of union minister Prahlad Joshi in following up on the interests and projects for the state.
Apart from Joshi and state home minister Araga Jnandendra, former chief ministers B S Yediyurappa, Jagadish Shettar and ministers Murugesh Nirani and Shankar Patil Munenakoppa, KLE President Prabhakar Kore, legislators Aravind Bellad, Amrut Desai and other leaders were present.
The chief minister, Amit Shah and other dignitaries also participated in the Amrit Mahotsav of Karnataka Liberal Education Society’s BLE College in Hubballi.
